MANILA – The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Monday said it has confiscated PHP146 million worth of illegal drugs from Jan. 1 to April 4 this year.
The NCRPO’s anti-narcotics teams also arrested 3,683 suspects in 2,386 anti-drug operations.
Of the seized illegal drugs, 21,273.25 grams were shabu worth PHP145.87 million; 7,977.69 grams of marijuana (PHP957,322); 17.30 grams of cocaine (PHP91,690); and 112.50 grams of kush (PHP168,750).
NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin said the figures highlight their unwavering dedication to dismantling drug networks and protecting communities from the harmful effects of illegal drugs.
“Team NCRPO will elevate our relentless, intel-driven, and procedure-based campaign against illegal drugs anchored on the ultimate goal of eliminating the illegal drug menace that destroys the lives of affected families,” he said in a statement.
During the same period, Aberin said the crime rate in Metro Manila also dropped by 23.63 percent — 1,305 from 1,710 incidents in 2024.
Index crimes involve those committed against persons such as murder, homicide, physical injury and rape, and crimes against property such as robbery, theft, carnapping of motor vehicles and motorcycle theft.
Aberin said the NCRPO arrested 1,764 most wanted persons and 2,633 other wanted persons.
“These focused efforts are now yielding tangible results in the fight against crime,” he said.
The NCRPO is composed of the Manila Police District, Quezon City Police District, Northern Police District, Southern Police District and Eastern Police District. (PNA)
