DUMAGUETE CITY – Police teams have seized over PHP4.4 million in suspected shabu during a weeklong anti-illegal drug operation in Negros Oriental, an official said Tuesday.

Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO), said the “shabu” items weighed some 655.23 grams and were confiscated in different parts of the province from Sept. 8 to 15.

“The weeklong, region-wide Simultaneous Anti-criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) also resulted in the arrest of 21 persons during the 19 anti-illegal drug operations,” Polinar said.

During the period, five operations on illegal gambling were also conducted, with 10 persons arrested and over PHP1,000 in bet money confiscated.

Polinar said 72 other operations led to the arrest of eight most wanted persons and 64 other wanted individuals.

Likewise, 32 operations led to the seizure or surrender of 32 unregistered firearms, while the Oplan Katok operations resulted in two firearms being handed in for renewal registration.

Additionally, 2,107 persons were apprehended for violations of ordinances at the local level. (PNA)
