BACOLOD CITY – Police teams recovered PHP12.8 million worth of illegal drugs and smuggled cigarettes in various operations conducted for two weeks across Negros Island.

Data covering March 1 to 14 released by the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) on Monday showed the campaign against illegal drugs yielded 1,028.45 grams of shabu and 46 grams of marijuana with a standard drug price of PHP 6.97 million.

These were recovered during 107 operations that led to the arrest of 126 drug personalities.

Meanwhile, the 22 operations conducted against smuggled cigarettes resulted in the arrest of an individual and the recovery of PHP5.83 million worth of illicit items.

“The simultaneous anti-criminality and law enforcement operations conducted during the period delivered significant operational gains,” PRO-NIR spokesperson Lt. Col. Joem Malong said in a statement.

During the two-week synchronized and intelligence-driven operations, the units under the PRO-NIR carried out 416 successful law enforcement actions.

Among the other accomplishments are the arrest of 163 wanted individuals, including 43 most wanted persons and 120 other wanted persons in a total of 151 operations.

In the campaign against loose firearms, operatives arrested 26 individuals, confiscated 60 loose firearms, and facilitated the voluntary surrender of 37 firearms and the deposit of eight firearms.

The execution of eight search warrants under the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act led to the arrest of seven individuals, confiscation of 12 loose firearms, one explosive and 34 rounds of ammunition.

A search warrant executed under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 resulted in the apprehension of a lone suspect and the recovery of shabu valued at PHP 450,840. (PNA)
