DUMAGUETE CITY – Police in Negros Oriental confiscated PHP10.9 million worth of shabu in a weeklong anti-crime blitz ahead of the midterm elections, officials reported Monday.

The Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) arrested 23 drug suspects and seized 1,607 grams of methamphetamine during April 28 to May 4 operations, according to spokesperson Lt. Stephen Polinar.

Authorities conducted 19 drug raids alongside broader crime suppression efforts that netted 42 gambling suspects in 21 operations, four most-wanted criminals and 46 other fugitives.

There were also six arrests in 30 loose firearms operations and 957 ordinance violations across the province.

Police also secured 15 guns through “Oplan Katok” (Knock) visits to owners with expired licenses.

Polinar said the Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations will continue through the May 12 elections. (PNA)
