MANILA – The National Housing Authority (NHA) is implementing a one-month moratorium on housing amortization for borrowers affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name Trami) nationwide.

In a Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon interview on Monday, NHA General Manager Joeben Tai said the moratorium will be from Nov. 1 to 30, and the payment of amortization and lease payments will start on Dec. 1.

“Dagdag pa dito, walang ipapataw na delinquency o karagdagang interes sa panahon ng moratorium hanggang Nov. 30, 2024. The NHA has over 80,000 housing units in its 85 pipeline projects to date.

More than 3,500 families are set to benefit from the first batch of housing projects in the provinces of Laguna and Quezon.

Tai said these projects will continue in the Bicol Region and Sorsogon province.

“Idagdag na natin diyan ang mahigit 1,500 na housing units na ating itatayo para sa mga pamilya na nasalanta ng pagsabog ng Taal Volcano noong 2020 at nung 2023. Atin na lamang pong inaantabayan ang pag-release ng pondo mula po sa (Let’s add to that the 1,500 units for families who were victims of Taal Volcano eruption in 2020 and 2023. Apart from housing, the NHA is also creating sustainable communities through its Peoples Force Caravan that brings the services of the government and private sector to beneficiaries nationwide. A total of 28,450 beneficiaries has received services from this initiative.

Since its establishment in 1975, the NHA has created at least 1.2 million housing units from over 2,700 projects nationwide. (PNA)
