MANILA – No Filipinos have so far been reported among the casualties in the funicular accident that killed 17 people and wounded several others in Lisbon, Portugal, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Thursday.
“There are currently no indications of Filipino nationals involved in the tourist tram derailment in Lisbon,” the DFA said in a press statement.
“The Philippine Embassy in Lisbon will continue to monitor developments,” it added.
The iconic funicular cable railway Elevador da Gloria derailed and hurtled down the hill before crashing into a building on Wednesday evening, claiming the lives of 17 individuals and wounding 20 others, including four Portuguese, two Germans and two Spanish nationals.
