BUTUAN CITY – A New People’s Army (NPA) rebel, wanted for murder and attempted murder for nearly a year, was arrested by enforcers from the Cabadbaran City Police Station along with supporting police operatives on Thursday.

In a report on Friday, Col. April Mark Young, the chief of Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office, identified the arrested NPA regular as alias Macoy, 23, of Barangay La Purisima, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

“The arrested suspect is a member of the NPA under the Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda 16B of the Dismantled Guerrilla Front 16, North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee,” Young said.

He added that the rebel has a standing arrest warrant for murder issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 32 in Surigao del Norte on Jan. 18, 2023.

The suspect is also wanted for attempted murder through an arrest warrant issued on May 17, 2022, by the same court.
