MANILA – Authorities intercepted abandoned parcels containing high-grade marijuana or “kush” and ecstasy with an estimated street value of almost PHP13 million in Pasay City.
Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group chief Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta said the joint operation Thursday at the Central Mail Exchange Center along Domestic Road led to the seizure of 21 abandoned inbound parcels containing 7.79 kg. of kush worth PHP10.9 million and 1,229 pieces of ecstasy tablets worth PHP2.08 million.
“This successful operation marks a significant milestone in our continuous battle against illegal drugs, demonstrating law enforcement’s dedication to fostering a safer society. Each drug seizure contributes to the security of our communities,” Matta said in a statement Friday.
The seized suspected drug evidence was inventoried/marked, and photographed and submitted to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Laboratory Service for laboratory analysis.
The operation was part of the efforts of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport-Interagency Drug Interdiction Task Group, of which the PDEG is a member agency. (PNA)
