MANILA – Malacañang is set to file a complaint before the Department of Justice (DOJ) against those spreading alleged false information about President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s health on social media.
Presidential Communications Office (PCO) acting Secretary Dave Gomez said the Palace media arm is now gathering evidence to submit to the DOJ.
“We’re collecting all pieces of evidence and will initiate a complaint with the DOJ, hopefully next week,” Gomez told reporters Wednesday.
Malacañang has repeatedly dismissed rumors about the President’s health as fake news, amid posts circulating on social media suggesting he is ill.
Some posts also questioned visuals from recent government meetings, including claims that images were altered or outdated.
The Palace has maintained that the President is in good health and continues to perform his duties, with scheduled public engagements.
On Tuesday, Gomez trooped to the DOJ office in Manila to submit an endorsement to file complaints against those behind a Facebook page spreading false information related to the country’s energy situation. (PNA)
