MANILA (Mabuhay) — Malacañang on Saturday welcomed the United States government’s help in recovering the alleged ill-gotten wealth of suspected pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Napoles.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte noted the Philippines enjoys good working relations with the United States.

“Siyempre we welcome all efforts especially when it comes to matters like this. Maganda ang working relations (natin) with (the US),” she said on state-run dzRB radio.

Valte also noted the US is fast in initiating forfeiture proceedings.

The US Department of Justice had filed a civil forfeiture complaint against Napoles.

It is seeking to recover some $12.5 million in assets “that derive from bribery and kickback schemes in the Philippines spanning nearly a decade.”
