MANILA – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Friday rescued around 200 individuals in Palawan and evacuated 151 individuals in Negros Occidental due to heavy rains and flooding caused by Tropical Storm Crising.
In a situation report, the PCG said a total of 88 families or around 200 individuals were rescued in Barangay Sicsican in Puerto Princesa City in Palawan by the PCG District Palawan (CGDPAL).
“At around 08:25 a.m., they deployed a Quick Response Team (QRT) to the affected area and utilized its mobility assets to assist in the evacuation of stranded residents, in compliance with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to ensure the safety of the Filipino amid the heavy weather,” it said.
All families were safely rescued by 11 a.m.
On the other hand, the PCG District Southern Visayas (CGDSV) has evacuated 151 residents affected by flooding in Ilog, Negros Occidental.
“The PCG, in coordination with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) Ilog, evacuated the affected families at Barangays 1 and 2,” it said.
To date, the CGDSV remains on heightened alert, with all deployable response groups on standby and ready for further deployment.
In its 5 p.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned against stormy conditions over Northern Luzon on Friday night as Crising approaches northern Cagayan.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 has been raised at Batanes, Cagayan, including Babuyan Islands, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, the northern and central portions of Abra, the eastern portion of Mountain Province, the eastern portion of Ifugao, Ilocos Norte, and the northern portion of Ilocos Sur.
On the other hand, TCWS No. 1 has been raised over Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, the rest of Mountain Province, the rest of Ifugao, the rest of Abra, Benguet, the rest of Ilocos Sur, La Union, the northern portion of Pangasinan, the northern portion of Aurora, and the northeastern portion of Nueva Ecija.
