BUTUAN CITY – Police has identified persons of interest in the killing of an American national in Agusan del Sur, an official said Wednesday.

“The task force is pursuing leads,” Maj. Jennifer Ometer, information office chief of the Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region (PRO-13), said in an interview.

A Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) was formed to investigate the killing.

Ralph Eugene Maneckle, 56, of Boston was killed Feb. 2 in Barangay Pulang Lupa, Trento, Agusan del Sur.

PRO-13 Director Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano said the SITG is pursuing all leads.

“We will not rest until the perpetrator is apprehended,” Abrahano said.

Agusan del Sur police has intensified patrols and checkpoints and increased intelligence-gathering, he said.

Maneckle was visiting a local resort when he was killed, according to initial reports. His sling bag, which contained cash and valuables, was taken.

“We call on everyone to remain vigilant and report any information,” Abrahano said. (PNA)
