MANILA (Mabuhay) — Former Energy Secretary Jericho Petilla is confident that he will secure a slot in the 12-man senatorial slate of the Liberal Party (LP).
“I’m quite sure. Hindi ang pinipili kung sino lang ang sikat pero kung sino ang magtatrabaho. Marami ang nag-a-apply kung tutuusin. Ano ang kalagayan ko? I’m confident na masasama ako, but the final say really is when they release it,” Petilla told reporters.
“Para sa akin, upon filing, I think everything is [given] a level playing field at depende sa kung anong galaw mo,” he said.
Petilla attended the LP’s National Executive Council (NECO) meeting held Wednesday at the party’s Balay headquarters in Cubao, Quezon City.
Four LP members have been formally nominated to be part of the senatorial slate. They are incumbent Senators Franklin Drilon, Ralph Recto and Teofisto Guingona III, and former Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan.
“The four that were nominated, they’re institutions,” Petilla said.
The administration party said it will formally announce its vice-presidential candidate and complete senatorial slate on Monday, October 5. (MNS)
