MANILA – The Philippine National Police-Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) arrested 153 individuals for various cyber-related violations in May as part of its intensified efforts to strengthen public safety in the digital space.

According to PNP-ACG chief Maj. Gen. Wilson Asueta, the number include 45 suspects who were were apprehended through entrapment operations and 63 who were arrested through Warrants to Search, Seize, and Examine Computer Data.

He also reported the conviction of 17 individuals for cyber-related offenses during the same period.

Asueta said the unit successfully implemented 140 Warrants to Disclose Computer Data in support of ongoing cybercrime investigations and referred 145 cases for filing, comprising 105 regular filings and 40 inquest proceedings.

Operationally, PNP-ACG units conducted 2,124 cyber patrolling activities, completed 66 digital forensic examinations, and rescued seven victims of various cybercrimes.

Asueta underscored the group’s continued commitment to protecting the public from cyber-enabled crimes.

“Our Cybercops remain relentless in pursuing cybercriminals and strengthening our operational efforts to ensure a safer and more secure cyberspace for all,” he said in a statement Tuesday. (PNA)
