MANILA – The government’s relentless campaign against all forms of criminality has resulted in the arrest of 1,046 individuals and the confiscation of PHP169.5 million worth of evidence in April, the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) said on Sunday.
In a news release, CIDG chief Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said among those arrested are 16 foreign nationals, two national most wanted persons (MWPs) with rewards, 102 regional MWPs, 74 provincial MWPs, three members of a criminal group and one communist terrorist group.
He said that in 837 operations conducted in April, enforcers gathered 118 loose firearms, six explosives, 127 assorted magazines, and 1,896 rounds of assorted ammunition.
Torre said 110 criminal complaints have been filed before the National Prosecution Service.
He lauded the CIDG “for making the country a better place to live and do business.”
Torre said the CIDG will remain relentless in the fight against all forms of criminality and steadfast in enforcing the laws without fear or favor. (Christopher Lloyd Caliwan/PNA)
