MANILA – A fugitive British national was arrested in Romblon for overstaying in the country, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Tuesday.
In a report, Police Regional Office Mimaropa (PRO-4B) chief Brig. Gen. Jovencio Badua said Andrew Charles Beaumont, 48, was arrested in Sitio Cabalian, Barangay Agmanic in Sta. Fe, Romblon on Monday afternoon.
The former teacher and scuba instructor from Hull, Yorkshire, England, and currently residing in Barangay Agpudlos, San Andres, Romblon, was arrested in a coordinated inter-agency operation with the Bureau of Immigration (BI) for violation of Republic Act No. 613, otherwise known as the Revised Immigration Act of 1940.
Verification with the BI showed that Beaumont arrived in the country on Sept. 19, 2022, and his last authorized extension of stay expired on Nov. 17, 2023.
“This successful operation reflects what we can achieve through disciplined policing and strong inter-agency coordination. I commend and thank our partner units and the Bureau of Immigration for the swift collaboration that ensured a lawful arrest and upheld the rule of law,” Badua said. (PNA)
