CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Police Regional Office (PRO) 10 (Northern Mindanao) on Monday honored its officers for successful intensified operations against illegal mining and smuggling in the region.

In a ceremony, Col. Aaron Mandia, PRO-10 acting deputy director for Administration, led the pinning of the Medalya ng Kagalingan (Medal of Excellence) to Maj. Clyde Cajocson and Capt. Erwin Rubrico. The two were behind the arrest of suspects and confiscation of smuggled cigarettes totaling PHP1.7 million in Iligan City and Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte, respectively.

The same medal was awarded to Maj. Joseph Hasigan, who led the arrest of suspects and seizure of illegal mining equipment and paraphernalia amounting to more than PHP5 million.

PRO-10’s recent campaign against illegal mining occurred on May 24 in Kapatagan, where police and military enforcers confiscated more than PHP5.3 million worth of mineral ores at a checkpoint.

PRO-10 chief Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano said these successful operations demonstrate the firm commitment of the police force to stop the illegal transport and extraction of mineral resources in the region.

“PRO-10 will continue to intensify its efforts against all forms of environmental law violations to protect our natural resources and ensure that those responsible are held accountable,” Abrahano said.

Other police personnel also received medals. Capt. Teddy Macarayo was awarded the Medalya ng Kadakilaan (Medal of Greatness) for arresting the top 1 and top 2 most wanted persons in the region, who were charged with rape and other sexual assaults.

Staff Sgt. Isagani Alguzar Jr. received the Medalya ng Papuri (Medal of Commendation), while Patrolmen James Michael Teves and Zainodin Ditucalan received the Medalya ng Pagkilala (Medal of Recognition). (PNA)
