MANILA – The Quezon City government has assured the public that its cash relief assistance distribution remains safe and orderly following a medical emergency involving a driver beneficiary during the payout at the Quezon Memorial Circle on Wednesday.
In a statement Thursday, the city government also assured that the driver is now in a safe condition.
“Ayon sa ulat, ang nasabing drayber ay mayroong seizure condition na naging sanhi ng pagkawala ng malay (According to the report, the said driver has a seizure condition that caused him to faint),” the statement read.
It said the QC Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office emergency response team immediately responded and transported the patient to Quezon City General Hospital for examination and appropriate treatment.
“Matapos ang masusing pagsusuri, napagpasyahan ng drayber at ng kaniyang pamilya na hindi na siya kailangang iadmit sa ospital (After a thorough examination, the driver and his family decided that he did not need to be admitted to the hospital),” it added.
Earlier reports said the jeepney driver collapsed and suffered a seizure while queuing for the PHP5,000 fuel subsidy payout on Wednesday, allegedly due to an electrolyte imbalance caused by prolonged hunger.
The city government said that the Department of Social Welfare and Development extended additional financial assistance, while the QC LGU provided maintenance medicines.
The QC government emphasized that safety protocols are in place as payouts continue for drivers from various groups, and asked beneficiaries for their cooperation and understanding. (PNA)
