MANILA – Intensified police operations from March 9 to 15 resulted in the arrest of 251 persons facing various offenses in Quezon City.

In a statement on Monday, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Acting Director Col. Melecio Buslig Jr. said those arrested include 78 wanted persons, 94 illegal gamblers, 69 drug suspects and 10 individuals for possession of illegal firearms.

Buslig said during the period, 49 anti-drug operations led to the arrest of 69 suspects and the confiscation of PHP1.9 million worth of illegal drugs.

For the campaign against illegal gambling, he said 94 were arrested and PHP29,295 bet money was confiscated in 44 operations.

He said 45 other wanted persons (OWPs) and 33 most wanted persons (MWPs) were arrested.

The respective courts of origin have been notified of the arrests, he added.

The QCPD also conducted 10 operations against illegal firearms, leading to the recovery of 11 firearms and the arrest of 10 individuals. (PNA)
