MANILA – The camp of Apollo Quiboloy is no longer keen on pursuing the transfer of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader from the Pasig City Jail to the Philippine National Police (PNP) custodial facility in Camp Crame.
In an interview on Monday, lawyer Israelito Torreon conceded that their chances of securing a transfer is unlikely.
“Knowing that, you know, the political air is not for us, it might be useless for us to insist on what we think is right for him, so might as well go with the tide and persevere and overcome,” Torreon told reporters after a preliminary investigation into one of the more than a dozen charges pending before prosecutors involving Quiboloy and his co-accused.
“Kasi (Because) we might be wasting a lot of papers if we insist on our ano sana. Kasi ang sa amin naman ‘yung security niya (request. Because on our part, it’s for his security), we felt before that he would be more secure in Camp Crame given the security threats against him,” he added.
Torreon was at the Department of Justice for the continuation of the preliminary investigation on the malicious mischief complaint filed by former president Rodrigo Duterte, as the administrator of the KOJC properties, against former Interior and Local Government secretary Benhur Abalos and Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rommel Marbil.
Prosecutors gave Torreon up to Dec. 16 to file their reply affidavit to the counter-affidavit filed by Abalos, Marbil and other respondents.
Meanwhile, Torreon said other KJOC lawyers will be filing counter-affidavits to the charges of illegal assembly, obstruction of justice and other cases filed by the government against church members. (PNA)
