MANILA (Mabuhay) — Aside from being both in showbiz, what do Miss World 2013 Megan Young and Miss World Philippines 2014 Valerie Weigmann have in common?

Both beauty queens were in the cast of TV5 shows (“Misibis Bay” and “Kidlat”, respectively) that starred Ritz Azul, who herself dreams of becoming an international beauty queen someday.

“Imagine that, nakatrabaho ko sila tapos yung pakiramdam ko na nanalo sila. Tapos alam ko din sa sarili ko na matagal ko ding pangarap yun. Honestly, naiinggit ako sa kanila pero at the same time, natutuwa ako for them kasi alam ko na pangarap nila yun,” Ritz said.

Ritz, however, remains optimistic that she may still realize her dream when the right time comes. Only 20 years old, the statuesque native of Sta. Rita, Pampanga said she has discussed this with TV5 management and confirmed that, yes, joining a beauty pageant is part of her career path down the road.

“Right now, management is more focused on my career for TV. Pero nasa plans na yan for me. Mahaba pa naman ang panahon baka kailangan ko pang hulmahin ang sarili. Hintay-hintay lang tayo baka kailangan pang mahinog. Pero na-encourage talaga ako ng pagkapanalo nila (Megan and Valerie),” she revealed.

Until that time comes, Ritz is also very focused on her career for which she is getting equally encouraging feedback. After getting rave reviews for her performance in the acclaimed weekly drama “For Love or Money” last year, Ritz was equally sensational in her big screen debut in GB Sampedro’s Cinemalaya feature, “S6parados”.

She also developed a growing following on the gag show “Tropa Mo Ko Nice Di Ba?” for the hilarious segment “Gandumb and Gandumber” which features her and Valeen Montenegro as characters inspired by the Jim Carrey film “Dumb and Dumber”.

“May mga tumatawag na nga sa sa aking Gandumb sa Twitter. Kinu-compare nila ako with Rufa Mae Quinto. Yun din naman ang gusto ko, maging versatile,” Ritz enthused. (MNS)
