MANILA, Jan 21 (Mabuhay) – The Supreme Court has rejected Senator Jinggoy Estrada’s petition to invalidate the plunder case filed against him by the Office of the Ombudsman in connection with the alleged pork barrel scam.
At a press briefing, SC spokesman Theodore Te said Estrada failed to prove that his right to due process and equal protection had been violated.
Estrada is facing graft and plunder charges before the Sandiganbayan for allegedly pocketing portions of his pork barrel fun allocations through a systematic scheme involving bogus non-government organizations. He has denied the charges.
Te’s announcement came on the same day the SC dismissed the disqualification case filed against Estrada’s father, former President and now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada. (MNS)
