MANILA – The Senate has invited InfinitUs Marketing Solutions, Inc. to attend a hearing next week on its alleged 2023 deal with the Chinese embassy to run pro-Beijing social media campaigns, Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino confirmed Thursday.

Tolentino, who chairs the Senate Special Committee on Maritime and Admiralty Zones, said the firm will be given a chance to air its side.

The inquiry is part of an ongoing probe into foreign interference and espionage.

“We want to strengthen our democracy. We may not make it bulletproof, but we can make it stronger,” Tolentino said in a statement.

The Senator has filed a legislation that seeks stiffer penalties, tighter regulations, and greater public awareness.

He said local troll farms aiding foreign actors could be held liable, with keyboard warriors potentially charged as accessories. (PNA)
