RP’s current number one movie comes to theatres in the U.S., Canada and Middle East this April
REDWOOD CITY, April 12, 2013 – After just two weeks of screenings in the Philippines, ABS-CBN Star Cinema’s It Takes A Man and a Woman – part three of the blockbuster romantic comedy trilogy starring John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo – is poised to take over as the number one Filipino movie of all time in the box office.
Based on the statement released by Star Cinema on April 12, the film is now close to earning P300 million. Star Cinema’s “Sisterakas” currently holds the record at P391.4 million after a month of screening.
It Takes A Man and a Woman follows the story of lovebirds Miggy Montenegro (Cruz) and his former assistant Laida Magtalas (Geronimo). After enjoying a few years of the syrupy sweetness and joy of love even when in a long distance relationship, the couple breaks up. Miggy continues to rise as a top young businessman while Laida gets an opportunity to work as an executive for a big magazine in the U.S. At Miggy’s brother’s compelling request, Laida flies back to the Philippines to work with Miggy. She remains single, but Miggy has moved on with a new girlfriend (Isabelle Daza). Expect love-and-hate sparks, laughter and tears to fly all over as fate tries to bring back lovers who have grown up and grown apart. Or have they?
Directed by the esteemed Cathy Garcia Molina, TFC@theMovies brings It Takes A Man and a Woman to a record number of 32 theatres in the U.S., and 11 theatres each in Canada and in the Middle East, according to TFC@theMovies Head John-D Lazatin. Moreover, most of the theatres now have English subtitles, expanding the reach of the film to non-Tagalog speaking audiences.
