ZAMBOANGA CITY – Authorities arrested one suspect and seized some PHP6.8 million worth of shabu in an anti-drug operation Sunday in this city.
Bryan Babang, Drector of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Zamboanga Peninsula (PDEA9), identified the arrested suspect as alias “Mahadil,” 37, a motorcycle taxi driver.
Mahadil was arrested in a buy-bust conducted by joint PDEA and police operatives around 7:38 a.m. in Barangay Lunzuran.
“Seized from the suspect were four heat-sealed transparent plastic packs containing suspected shabu weighing about 1,000 grams,” Babang said in his report.
Also confiscated were five bundles of boodle money and identification cards.
Babang said the suspect is detained in preparation for the filing of charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
On March 31, two were also arrested and some PHP3.4 million worth of suspected shabu was seized following a shootout in the boundary of Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Barangay Licomo, Zamboanga City. One of the two arrested suspects was wounded during the shootout. (PNA)
