LEGAZPI CITY – Bicol Region’s top 10 most wanted persons, most of them facing rape charges, were arrested in a series of police operations.
Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) Director Brig. Gen. Nestor Babagay Jr. said the series of arrests was the result of intelligence-driven initiatives and intensified manhunt operations carried out in Bicol and even beyond.
“These arrests show that the law will always catch up with those who choose to violate it. Our communities deserve peace, and PRO 5 will do everything within its mandate to protect them,” Babagay said.
Topping the list was alias “Joe” from Rapu-Rapu, Albay and wanted for 21 counts of attempted qualified rape. He was arrested on Sept. 6 at the Port of Calatagan in Batangas City.
The No. 2 most wanted, alias “Wil,” 54, is facing charges of qualified rape by sexual assault.
He was nabbed on Sept.12 in Barangay Malobago, Daraga, Albay.
Alias “Enteng”, wanted for murder with no bail recommended, was tracked down on Sept. 13 in Labo, Camarines Norte.
On Sept. 7, alias “Reming”, 25, was held in custody in Jovellar, Albay, for two counts of statutory rape; alias “Jors,” accused of rape and sexual assault, was arrested in Magallanes, Sorsogon on Sept. 5.
Meanwhile, alias “Rom” was arrested on Sept. 2 for violation of Section 5, Article II of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
On the same day, alias “Andy”, 45, was arrested in Barangay Sto. Cristo, Tabaco City, facing similar drug charges.
The manhunt extended to Camarines Sur where alias “Ger” was arrested on Sept. 22 in Del Gallego for two counts of rape.
Earlier, on Sept. 2, alias “Lon” was apprehended in Camaligan, Camarines Sur for violation of the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
Completing the Top 10 was alias “Rey” who got arrested on Sept. 1 in Cubao, Quezon City for qualified rape of a minor. (PNA)
