BUTUAN CITY – Police arrested a New People’s Army (NPA) rebel, the seventh most wanted person in the Caraga region, in Lianga, Surigao del Sur, on Tuesday.
The suspect, alias “Nathan,” 44, was arrested in Barangay Diatagon, Col. Harry Domingo, Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office director, said.
Nathan has an arrest warrant for rebellion issued in 2021 by the Regional Trial Court Branch 28 in Lianga.
Domingo said the suspect is a member of the NPA’s Milisya ng Bayan.
He also reported the arrests of three other wanted people, one at the regional level and two at the provincial level, from Feb. 13-18.
“These arrests send a strong message that there is no haven for criminals in Surigao del Sur,” Domingo said Wednesday. “We will continue our intensified operations.”
He asked residents to report information about the fugitives. (PNA)
