COTABATO CITY – Police are searching for two men suspected of ambushing and killing a university professor on a busy street here Tuesday evening.
City police director, Col. Jibin Bongcayao, identified the victim as engineer Israel Angas, a professor at Notre Dame University’s College of Engineering and Computer Studies and a resident of Barangay Rosary Heights 3 (RH-3).
Bongcayao said Angas was driving his white sports utility vehicle (NAU-8252) on his way home in Nayon Shariff, RH-3, when two men on a motorcycle traveling in the opposite direction opened fire on him at about 6 p.m.
Village watchmen and volunteers responded to the scene and rushed Angas to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police recovered at least 12 empty shells and slugs from a .45-caliber pistol at the crime scene. T
he motive for the attack remains under investigation. (PNA)
