ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police are searching for the gunmen who wounded a village official and her husband in Isabela City, Basilan province.
Lt. Col. Raymond Sanson, Isabela City Police chief, on Thursday identified the victims as Rowena Repono, 51, a councilor from Barangay Eastside, and her husband, Dominick, 54.
Sanson said the shooting occurred at about 8:35 p.m. on Wednesday.
The couple was riding a motorcycle when they were shot, according to an initial investigation.
The attackers fled and the victims were taken to a hospital.
Four empty .45-caliber pistol shells were recovered at the scene.
The shooting was the first in Isabela City since the election gun ban took effect on Jan. 12. (PNA)
