MANILA, Jan 10 (Mabuhay) – The Feast of the Black Nazarene may be over, but Metro Manila police will remain on high alert until after the visit of Pope Francis.

Metro Manila police chief Director Carmelo Valmoria said that during the next few days before the pope arrives Jan. 15, they will practice their security measures.

“Umpisa bukas, walang uwian na yan. Mamaya magkakaroon ng accounting ng personnel, magsidatingan ang augmentation, may dry run pa tayo,” he said.

Valmoria noted Metro Manila will be the site of several activities during Pope Francis’ visit from Jan. 15 to 19.

These include the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Manila Cathedral, and the University of Santo Tomas. The Pope will be staying at the Apostolic Nuncio’s residence in Manila.

Valmoria advised the public not to be startled when seeing many police personnel on the streets in the coming days, saying it is part of the dry run for the papal visit.

Kung may makitang maraming pulis sa kalsada dry run na yan,” he said.

Meanwhile, Valmoria reminded those with drones against using them during the papal visit.

Walang pwedeng palipad lalo pag narito si Pope,” he said. (MNS)
