MANILA (Mabuhay) -– Pork barrel scam whistleblower Marina Sula admitted Tuesday she did not see former APEC party-list Rep. Edgar Valdez receive kickbacks from his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) allocations.
During the continuation of her cross-examination at the Sandiganbayan 5th Division, Sula answered in the negative when asked by Valdez’s lawyer Joel Ferrer if there was any instance she saw alleged pork barrel scam brains Janet Lim Napoles giving money to Valdez.
Sula also admitted she did not know what were the contents of the bag Valdez was supposedly holding when he was at the JLN office.
During the direct examination, Sula said she saw Valdez leaving the office of Napoles with a bag. She also claimed that she saw principal whistleblower Benhur Huy prepare money for Valdez as ordered by Napoles.
In an interview after the hearing, Ferrer said the money Luy supposedly prepared may not necessarily be for Valdez.
“It does not necessarily follow na ‘yung pera na inutos ay para kay Cong. Valdez,” Ferrer said.
Sula was also confronted by Ferrer with photos taken inside the offices of JLN Corporation.
In her earlier testimony, Sula said she saw what was happening inside the office of Napoles. During the cross-exam, however, Sula said she had to extend her neck to see what was happening in Napoles’ office because of the cubicle divider blocking her view.
“Ibig sabihin sasadyain mo na tumayo para makita mo, kung nandoon siya sa working station hindi niya alam ang nangyayari sa office ni Janet Lim Napoles,” said Ferrer.
Sula will continue her testimony Tueaday next week. After Sula, Luy is expected to take the witness stand.
Valdez is facing plunder and graft charges for allegedly receiving P57.78 million in kickbacks from funneling PDAF allocations from 2004 to 2010. (MNS)
