ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police are searching for motorcycle-riding assailants who wounded a Pepsi plant executive and killed his driver in an attack Monday evening, authorities reported Tuesday.

Che Stalin Rodriguez, general manager of the local Pepsi plant, survived the shooting while his driver, identified only as Jun-Jun, died during treatment, according to Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director Col. Fidel Fortaleza Jr.

“The victims had just arrived home when repeatedly shot by one of two men riding tandem in a motorcycle that tailed them,” Fortaleza said in his official report. The attack occurred around 7 p.m. on San Isidro Street, Barangay Mercedes.

Police recovered seven empty .45-caliber shells at the crime scene. The gunmen fled immediately after the shooting.

The incident follows the May 4 killing of businessman Walter Tong, who was shot dead by riding-in-tandem attackers while biking in Barangay Talisayan.

Fortaliza said ZCPO Station 9 is continuing its manhunt operation as of this posting. (PNA)
