MANILA (Mabuhay) — Don’t count on a project co-starring Zoren Legaspi and Carmina Villaroel.

While the married couple has appeared together numerous times in TV commercials, mostly with their kids Cassandra and Maverick, being co-actors in a TV series or a movie is an entirely different matter, according to Legaspi.

Mas prefer ko rin na hindi kami magkasama,” he said. “Hindi ko lang alam siya. Kasi hindi kami magkatugma sa working habits. Iba ‘yung kanya, eh, iba ‘yung akin. Kaya ‘pag nagsasama kami…(acts annoyed).”

Legaspi and Villaroel, who got married in November 2012 after 12 years of being a couple, last worked together – TV commercials aside – as co-hosts of “Showbiz Inside Report” last year.

“Parang old-school actor kasi ako,” Legaspi said. “’Don’t bug me dahil nag-e-emote ako dito.’ Kaya nga minsan, ‘pag merong nagpapa-picture sa set, [nadi-distract] ako.”

His wife, in contrast, can easily switch on emotions required by a particular scene, according to Legaspi. Villaroel, he added, can be chatting with a colleague one second, and crying in front of her onscreen husband the next.

Siguro dahil iba ‘yung talent niya – (imitates Villaroel chatting with a high-pitched voice) – ‘O, take na!’ – biglang nandoon! ‘Cut!’ – (imitates Villaroel again) – tapos, ‘Ready na!’ Biglang nandoon na naman,” he said, drawing laughter.

As hotelier Alex in “Forevermore” – his acting comeback after more than a year – Legaspi said he has carried over his “old ways” of stepping into his character’s shoes.

Ako hindi [tulad ni Carmina]. ‘Cut!’ Stay away from me, makikinig ako kung ano’ng nangyayari doon, sa sinasabi ng direktor. ‘Ah okay, gano’n pala gusto niya,’” he said.(MNS)
