MANILA – Thirty-one most wanted persons (MWPs) were nabbed in 24-hour operations, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said over the weekend.
In a news release, the PNP said operations started 8 a.m. on May 1 in Metro Manila, and the Ilocos, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao and Caraga regions, alongside duties for Labor Day-related events.
Among those arrested were suspects with pending arrest warrants for rape, murder, sexual assault, trafficking in persons, syndicated estafa, carnapping, robbery with homicide, and illegal drugs.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the results showed that police operations continue even under full deployment conditions.
“Habang naka-focus tayo sa Labor Day security, tuloy ang paghahabol natin sa mga wanted person. Hindi humihinto ang serbisyo ng PNP (While we focused on Labor Day security yesterday, our pursuit of wanted persons continues. PNP service continues),” he said.
The PNP operations support President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to strengthen peace and order while maintaining lawful and rights-based policing. (With a report from Lloyd Caliwan/PNA)
