MANILA – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has warned against unscrupulous persons offering assistance online in securing voter certificates in exchange for a fee.
The poll body urged the public not to believe social media platforms that supposedly offer such services.
“The public is strongly advised to be wary of online transaction accounts/pages that offer assistance for a fee in obtaining Voter Certificates,” it said in an advisory.
“This is not authorized by the Comelec.”
Voter certificates are free and no payments should be collected.
The voter certificate is issued upon the request of a registered voter. It is a document that can serve as temporary voter’s ID cards.
Meanwhile, the Commission said applicants for voter registration may check their registration statuses online.
For those who applied via Special Register Anywhere/Anytime Program (SRAP) or Register Anywhere Program (RAP) activities, they may check their statuses via https://comelec.gov.ph/?r=VoterRegistration/ApprovedDisApprovedRAP.
Applicants are advised to go to its website; find the “Voter Registration” tab; and click on “List of Register Anywhere Program (RAP) Approved/Disapproved Applicants”. Select the appropriate Election Registration Board (ERB) hearing schedule where they registered; then click on the specific region, city, or municipality where they registered.
Based on its latest data, there are now a total of 9,163 individuals that have applied via SRAP/RAP activities. (PNA)
