MANILA – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Wednesday summoned another driver and operator of a Green and Smart Mobility (GSM) over a traffic incident, this time a multiple-vehicle collision involving eight motorcycles that injured several individuals in Quezon City.
In a statement, LTO chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao said the incident at the corner of 20th Avenue and Aurora Boulevard, which was caught on video, posed great danger to motorists and other road users, in addition to the damage sustained by the motorcycles.
“Hinding-hindi namin palalagpasin ang ganitong uri ng pagmamaneho na nagdudulot ng panganib sa mga inosenteng motorista at commuter (We will never allow such dangerous driving that endangers innocent motorists and commuters),” Lacanilao said.
In response, the LTO issued a show cause order to both the registered owner and driver of the GSM taxi unit and ordered them to appear before the Intelligence and Investigation Division at 10 a.m. on May 27, 2026.
They were ordered to explain in writing why they should not be administratively charged with “Reckless Driving, Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle, and Employing a Reckless, Insolent, Discourteous, or Arrogant Driver.”
To date, the driver in the incident has been temporarily suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle has been placed on alarm while the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The undated video that went viral on social media showed the aftermath of the GSM taxi colliding with eight motorcycles, with one motorcycle still under the front bumper of the taxi after it stopped.
Several motorcycles and their passengers can be seen to have fallen on the street behind the taxi after the collision. (PNA)
