LAOAG CITY – A magnitude 5.5 earthquake jolted Dalupiri Island in Cagayan province on Thursday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The tectonic quake’s epicenter was located at 7 km. southeast of Dalupiri island, at a depth of 10 km. It occurred at 6:01 a.m.

The tremor was felt at Intensity 1 by some residents of Batac City and Bacarra in Ilocos Norte, including Vigan City and Narvacan in Ilocos Sur.

Residents of nearby areas have been advised to take precautionary measures due to expected aftershocks. (PNA)
