MANILA – The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has identified one of the two suspects behind a shooting at the corner of Timog Avenue and EDSA that left two people dead.
In a press briefing Tuesday, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño said that four latent prints recovered from the motorcycle used by the suspects have yielded results.
The motorcycle was found abandoned hours after the ambush on April 28.
“Puwede lang namin i-share sa inyo, identified na po ‘yung isa doon sa dalawa (What we can only share with you is that one of the two suspects has been identified),” Tuaño said without providing further details, citing ongoing manhunt operations.
The victims, sports patron and businessman Perry Mariano, 75, and his driver, Norberto Orimaco, 51, were attacked by two motorcycle-riding assailants. They later died at the hospital.
In an interview, PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said investigators are looking at business rivalry as a possible motive behind the killing.
“Hopefully we can go to the bottom of this incident, unmasking the mastermind and getting to know [the] motive,” he said. (PNA)
