ROME – Italy-based Filipina rhythmic gymnast Jasmine Althea Ramilo defied back pain to finish 23rd at the FIG World Challenge Cup in Portimao, Portugal on May 15-17.

The 18-year-old 2025 Southeast Asian Games gold medalist earned a total score of 96.750 across four apparatus in the women’s individual all-around event.

She scored 23.950 in hoop, 20.700 in ball, 26.400 in clubs, and 25.700 in ribbon, solidifying her growing reputation as one of the Philippines’ most promising young gymnasts worldwide.

Ramilo’s mother, Fhey, said Jasmine is set to compete again in the Rhythmic Gymnastics Asian Championships in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on May 23-26.

‘We are all happy about her accomplishment in Portimao World Challenge. Though she had back pain during the competition, she still gave her best to represent our country well,” Fhey said.

Under her Italian coach, Claudia Mancinelli, Ramilo also won a bronze medal in the Thailand SEA Games in December last year. (PNA)
