MANILA – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Tuesday revoked the driver’s license of a vlogger for driving a motorcycle while suspended due to several prior violations.
In a statement, LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao said a Supplemental Order has been issued against Ishi Lee for continuing to drive without a valid driver’s license.
Lee’s violations include reckless driving, driving without a valid driver’s license, distracted driving under Republic Act 10913 (Anti-Distracted Driving Act), and being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle under Republic Act 4136 (Land Transportation and Traffic Code).
“Ang mga patakaran at kautusan ng LTO ay hindi opsyonal. Kapag ito ay binalewala, may kaakibat itong agarang pananagutan at kaparusahan sa ilalim ng batas (The rules and regulations of the LTO are not optional. Ignoring these will result in immediate liabilities and penalties under the law),” Lacanilao said.
Lee has been ordered to pay a fine, her driver’s license has been revoked, and she has been disqualified from applying for a license for two years.
Her motorcycle has also been impounded and will remain impounded until its registration is complete and fines and penalties have been paid.
“Hindi namin kukunsintihin ang paulit-ulit o lantaran na paglabag sa mga regulasyon sa kalsada. Ang sinumang patuloy na hindi sumusunod ay agad na papatawan ng kaukulang aksyon upang maprotektahan ang kaligtasan ng publiko (We won’t encourage repeated or blatant violations of road laws. Whoever continues to violate will immediately be penalized to protect the safety of the public),” Lacanilao said.
He also ordered law enforcement agencies to arrest Lee if she would again be found driving on a public road, in addition to other penalties and impounding of her vehicle.
Before her license revocation, Lee was suspended over a viral video where she was driving while holding a camera and filming herself.
She and the registered owner of the motorcycle were issued show-cause orders, but both failed to show up during the scheduled investigation into the incident.
In a Facebook post on Monday evening, Lee said she was initially only suspended for three months and that her suspension was later extended to one year before her license was revoked.
She claimed that she did not show up in the hearing with the LTO because she did not receive an SCO until her apprehension on Monday. (PNA)
