MANILA – The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has warned the public against individuals falsely posing as agency officials after reports surfaced involving a supposed “Usec. Janet Ong” allegedly facilitating transactions linked to the department.

In an advisory posted on social media Wednesday, the DBM clarified that no such official exists within the agency and stressed that any representation using the name is fraudulent and unauthorized.

“Recently, the DBM received reports of an individual falsely identifying themselves as a DBM official using the name ‘Usec. Janet Ong.’ The public is hereby informed that no such official exists within the agency,” the department said.

The DBM said any transaction, communication, or deal supposedly endorsed by the fake official carries no legal effect and should be treated with extreme caution.

The agency warned the public against scammers exploiting the names of government officials to influence procurement transactions, financial dealings, or other government-related activities.

“The DBM does not authorize or tolerate any form of scam or fraudulent activity,” it added.

The DBM urged the public to immediately report suspicious activities to its Community Relations Office through its hotline (02) 8657-3300 local 2524 or via email at public_assistance@dbm.gov.ph. (PNA)
